Ride Routes
Sth East Qld (and our nearby regions) offer some very nice road riding opportunities.
Below are sections of 'Cool Rides' ( popular and/or interesting ride routes ) and also 'Cool Climbs' ( popular and/or interesting climbs over 2 km in length ).
You Can Help!
As a Road Grime Member, you can help build this section into a great resource.
You may have info to add OR see an error to correct ...
- You can submit new routes via the 'Submit New Route' button (doesn't matter if you can't supply all the graphics etc),
- You can make suggested updates (via the 'Suggest an Update' button within each route/climb) to any existing routes/climbs,
- You can submit GPS files, photos and maps all via the website using the 'Suggest an Update' button.
Don't be shy, we need all the help we can get ;)
To get started we've thrown up a few locations and have many, many more coming. But YOU might have more info to share, new routes and climbs we don't know. By all means, use the options mentioned above and help us out.

Maps
For those wondering how I (or how you may) do the maps ...
I use Google maps ... My Maps.
- Create a new map and name and save it
- make sure you are in map mode, not satellite etc
- navigate the map to the location of your ride or climb
- choose the 3rd button on the map and use the drop down to choose 'draw line along roads'
- click on the start point of your route
- if you can click on the end of the route, but if not, just click somewhere along it, this draws in a line following the road
- click on the hand button and a box pops up ... just hit ok. You can title that later.
- now right click the line and choose 'turn on snap to roads' even though you selected it earlier. This locks it on.
- now zoom out if you need and grab the end of the line and drag it to the end of your route.
You may note that at time the line seems to follow a route you don't want. Don't worry ... simply grab the middle of the line where it detours wrongly and drag it to the right road. It should re-draw correctly now. - save the map.
- Now, on the right hand side you see 'Link' in the menu. Click that and a box drops down. Click on the bottom 'Paste HTML to embed in website' option
- click 'Customise and preview embedded map' option below that, a separate window opens.
- you may or may not see your route here now, If not, navigate that map until you do and choose the zoom level you want. I choose zoom levels that show most of the route if possible.
- leave the map size at medium and copy the code in 'step 3' in that window
- this code gets pasted into the 'Google map embed code' field when you are suggesting an update or submitting a new route.
