Looking for a weekend group

G'day Guys and Girls.

I'm looking for a weekend riding group. I live in Ipswich but dont mind travelling 45 mins (by car) to start the ride.

I couldn't find a rider grading system on here (maybe i didnt look hard enough). I usually ride by myself and average just under 30 kmh for a ride such as the new Centenary Highway.

I haven't done any riding in a large group, but would like to give it a go once i find some riders of a similar pace/fitness. I sometimes ride with small group of 3 or so.

Happy to do anything up to 100km and dont mind early starts.

or maybe look up Ipswich Cycling Club, and see if they run anything (even better join Ipswich cycling club!).

Maybe also try contacting Yellow Jersey Bike Shop (from reading about them here they seem supportive, and might be able to point you in the right direction...

In Brisbane, I know planet cycle run a Saturday morning longish ride leaving at 6am (there was even the Mainline sponsored monthly ride (have a look under the Mainlineracing team thread)).

If you enjoy riding that road we have a bunch who rides it Mondays and Fridays. Meet at the Red Roota Yamanto at 5am. Mondays an easy roll, and Fridays quicker. The Springfield bunch have a big following on that road also. Our bunch are social riders to competitors. My only warning is there is a lot of swearing and taking the *** out of one another - if your sensitive you might want to try the Springfield bunch.

Lol, D6. Thats sounds just like the group i go dirt bike riding with on weekends.

5am is prob a little late for me to be starting on a weekday, but may be able to make it.

Q, i will have a look at the Springfieldriders site this evening.

Every Sunday the Springfield Riders group meet down at the Orion Shopping Centre Coffee Club at 7am. Easy 26kph pace on the way up to Yamanto then it's a smashfest on the way back. Getting upwards of 30 riders (if no racing is on) of all different levels. The group also does a river loop leaving from Brookwater on Saturday mornings. This is around 80km and is not for the faint hearted.

Cheers Utty, kind of getting a bit over the springfield loop, but always keen to go for a ride.

Just like to give a big thumbs up to the Springfield Riders. Had a great ride on Saturday (90km including fast city loop). Good bunch of guys. Now I have to aim to keep up for the whole city loop and not just the first 1/3.

Props to Utty for organising.

No problems Millsi, you did well. And what about the return trip? Certainly no cruise back. haha

You should of jumped on the Sunday SRG ride from Orion. The return trip from Yamanto back to Springfield averaged over 40kph. Should be a bit cruiser this Sunday as most are racing Synergy again.
