Lakeside is Back! (special licence required)

Hercules, Lakeside Race track costs $800 per hour to rent, so given that the races take say 2 hours all up by the time you've had a warm up, raced and Juniors get their go, we're talking $1600 for the venue assuming the owner rents for 2 hour blocks. So with the 100 odd riders there today racing, that's about $16 each per rider (on top of race fees). I think you havn't really thought through your little rant, HPRW have got a great venue at a very reasonable cost. I suppose you could all race out there for no prizemoney, that'd work.

Yup, lakeside was a big change from flat Nundah, and well organized.
Considering Lakeside's chequered history, ownership, and the hassles they've had with local council, congrats to HPRW for negotiating its use.

My first ride there, in D Grade (22 starters). Got dropped (dam hills) but good motivation to keep burning fat.
Be nice to get some training access but can imagine that's a big as if.

Given that he hasnt been back to defend himself I think he has crawled back into the hole he came out of.

Geez... fire up Matt! In a way it is all about profit and liability and I don't think Hercules was claiming our club was ripping people off. (Plus he is a mate of mine)

Just to clarify, Queensland Raceways run the circuit and they can charge whatever they want and impose their own conditions to using the circuit. There is no hourly fee. The 'lakeside licence' and the medical form is the arrangement they have offered and HPRW can either take it or leave it. The club has nothing to do with the licence and it's fee (except offering volunteers to help collect it), only the $10 race entry. If riders don't want to race under those conditions that's perfectly fine there are plenty of other races through the year.

Even though we have our our insurance through Cycling Australia Queenland Raceways still consider it a potential risk so are covering themselves for any possible sort of liability. It's way over the top and pretty dodgy IMHO but that is what we are stuck with.

Given the tone and content of his post im not quite sure what, other than ripping people off, he was claiming HPRW was doing.

TERCULES, pull your head in or you will be graded Super A and have to ride with a weight penalty.

Yes, bring the forms and sufficient dosh, we will relieve you of both and interrogate you about your ability to race in a suitable grade.
